The camshaft position sensor (CMP sensor) on a 2000 Chevy S10 with the 4.3L V6 engine is located on the
passenger side (right side) of the engine, near the front of the engine, on the distributorless ignition system. It's usually mounted on the cylinder head, fairly close to the camshaft itself. It's a small sensor with a single wire connector.
Because its exact placement can vary slightly depending on the specific engine configuration, a visual inspection with a repair manual or a diagram specific to your year and engine is highly recommended. A repair manual or online diagrams will give you the most accurate picture.
