Bodies that *might* fit with modification:
* 1976-1986 CJ-5 bodies: These are the most straightforward swap, as they were designed for that frame. Even then, you might encounter minor discrepancies needing adjustment.
* 1987-1995 CJ-7 bodies: These are longer and somewhat wider, requiring significant modification to the frame or body (likely both). You'll need to deal with wheelbase differences and potentially tubbing/body lift.
* Other Jeep bodies (with major modifications): Other Jeep models might be adaptable, but it would be a very challenging and custom fabrication project.
* Custom or aftermarket bodies: There are fiberglass and custom-built bodies designed for Jeep CJ frames, which offer the best potential for a good fit, but these can be expensive.
What won't fit:
Anything significantly wider or longer than a CJ-7 will be extremely difficult to adapt without extensive, custom fabrication work. This includes most full-size car or truck bodies.
In short: While a CJ-5 body is the easiest fit, any other body will require significant fabrication skills and time. Before starting this project, thoroughly research the specific dimensions of both the frame and the intended body to assess the feasibility and scope of the modifications required. Consider consulting with experienced Jeep builders for advice.
