The first Buick nailhead engine was the 322 cubic inch V8, which was introduced in 1953. This engine was followed by a series of larger nailheads, including the 364 cubic inch, 390 cubic inch, and 401 cubic inch engines. The 401 cubic inch nailhead was the largest and most powerful nailhead engine ever produced. It was rated at 325 horsepower and 438 lb-ft of torque.
Buick nailheads were discontinued in 1981 after being replaced by the Buick 330 and 3800 V6 engines. However, Buick nailheads remain popular among enthusiasts and are known for their great engines.
