Why was Porsche created?

Ferdinand Porsche, an Austrian engineer who had designed the Volkswagen Beetle for Adolf Hitler’s government, created Porsche in 1931 to design and build race cars. After World War II, Porsche began producing sports cars in Zuffenhausen and made its global debut with the Porsche 356 model—named in honor of Ferdinand Porsche himself.
