Disconnect Battery(Optional- Recommended): This will prevent any accidental electrical issues.
Open Trunk: The taillights of a Mazda 3 can be accessed through the trunk (or boot) of the car.
Locate Taillight Screws: Inside the trunk, you'll find two screws that hold the taillight in place. These screws are usually located on the side of the taillight assembly, near the edge of the trunk.
Remove Taillight Screws: Use a screwdriver to loosen and remove both of these screws.
Gently Pull the Taillight: Once the screws are removed, you should be able to gently pull the taillight assembly out of the car. Be careful not to pull too hard, as there may be electrical connections still attached to the taillight.
Disconnect Electrical Connections: Once the taillight assembly is out, disconnect any electrical connectors attached to the back of the taillight. These connectors may be held in place by clips or screws. Press the clips to release them or unscrew the screws to disconnect the connectors.
Remove Taillight Bulb(s): Once all electrical connections are disconnected, you can access the taillight bulbs. Twist the bulbs counterclockwise to loosen and remove them from their sockets.
Install New Taillight Bulb(s): Insert the new taillight bulbs into the sockets and turn them clockwise until they are secure.
Reconnecting the Electrical Connections: Reconnect the electrical connectors that you disconnected in step 5. Make sure that the connectors are securely fastened.
Align Taillight Assembly: Carefully align the taillight assembly with the holes in the trunk lid.
Install Taillight Screws: Replace the two screws that you removed in step 3 to secure the taillight assembly in place. Tighten the screws securely.
Reconnect the Battery: If you disconnected the car battery earlier, you can now reconnect it. Verify that your tail light is working properly.
Test Taillight: Turn on the headlights and brake lights to ensure that the taillight is working properly.
