* Diesel: Diesel engines are less common than gasoline engines, but they are more efficient and can produce more torque. They use diesel fuel as fuel and produce power by compressing it in a combustion chamber.

* Electric: Electric cars use electric motors to power the wheels. They do not produce any emissions and can be plugged in to an electrical outlet to recharge the battery.

* Hybrid: Hybrid cars combine a gasoline engine with an electric motor to power the wheels. They can be plugged in to an electrical outlet to recharge the battery, but they can also run on gasoline.

By drivetrain

* Front-wheel drive: Front-wheel drive cars have the engine mounted in the front of the car and the power is sent to the front wheels.

* Rear-wheel drive: Rear-wheel drive cars have the engine mounted in the rear of the car and the power is sent to the rear wheels.

* All-wheel drive: All-wheel drive cars have the engine mounted in the front of the car and the power is sent to all four wheels.

* Four-wheel drive: Four-wheel drive cars have the engine mounted in the front of the car and the power is sent to all four wheels, but they also have a low-range gear that can be used for off-road driving.
