1. Gather the necessary tools, including a flat-head screwdriver, a Phillips-head screwdriver, and a socket wrench with an extension.
2. Open the door nearest the mirror that needs to be removed. If the mirror is on the driver’s side, this will be the driver’s side door; if it is on the passenger’s side, this will be the passenger’s side door.
3. Locate the three screws holding the mirror in place. These screws are located at the base of the mirror, where the mirror housing attaches to the door panel.
4. Use the flat-head screwdriver to pry up the little covers above the screws to expose them.
5. Use the Phillips-head screwdriver to loosen and remove the three screws. Be careful not to drop the screws into the door panel or the car’s interior.
6. Gently pry the mirror housing away from the door panel, using the flat-head screwdriver as needed to help pry it loose. Disconnect the electrical connectors for the mirror, being careful not to damage the wires.
7. Lift the mirror housing up and off the car’s door.
8. Now you can install a new mirror housing. To do this, simply reverse the steps above, attaching the electrical connectors, inserting the three screws, and securing the little covers. Make sure to tighten the screws securely.
That’s it. The wing mirror on your Mercedes E280 2000 model is now removed.
