1. Open the hood of your vehicle.
2. Locate the engine oil filler cap. It is typically located on top of the engine, near the front. It has a yellow or orange cap.
3. Remove the oil filler cap.
4. Look inside the oil filler hole. You will see a long, thin stick with a yellow or orange handle. This is the oil dipstick.
5. Pull out the oil dipstick and wipe it clean with a rag.
6. Reinsert the dipstick into the oil filler hole.
7. Pull out the dipstick and check the oil level. It should be between the "Add" and "Full" marks on the dipstick.
If the oil level is low, you will need to add oil to the engine. To do this, remove the oil filler cap and pour in new oil. Add enough oil so that the level reaches the "Full" mark on the dipstick.
Be sure to replace the oil filler cap securely before you close the hood of your vehicle.
