How do you set points on a car without feeler gauge?

Setting Ignition Points Without a Feeler Gauge

If you don't have a feeler gauge, you can still set your ignition points using the following method:

1. Remove the distributor cap.

2. Turn the engine until the rotor is pointing directly at the #1 spark plug wire.

3. Insert a small screwdriver or allen key into the gap between the points.

4. Turn the screw that holds the points closed until the screwdriver just touches the points.

5. Tighten the screw to lock the points in place.

6. Replace the distributor cap.

This method is not as accurate as using a feeler gauge, but it will get you close enough to keep your engine running properly.
