What is causing your car overheat when the temperature gauge normal?

If your car is overheating, but the temperature gauge is normal, there are a few possibilities for what could be causing the issue:

1) Thermostat is stuck closed. The thermostat is a valve that controls the flow of coolant through the engine. If the thermostat is stuck closed, coolant will not be able to circulate through the engine, causing it to overheat.

2) Coolant leak. A coolant leak can cause the engine to overheat because there is not enough coolant in the system to cool the engine. Look for any leaks in the hoses or around the radiator.

3) Water pump failure. The water pump circulates the coolant through the engine. If the water pump fails, coolant will not be able to circulate through the engine, causing it to overheat.

4) Radiator failure. The radiator is responsible for cooling the coolant. If the radiator is damaged or blocked, it will not be able to cool the coolant, causing the engine to overheat.

5) Head gasket failure. A head gasket failure can cause coolant to leak into the combustion chambers, causing the engine to overheat.
