1. Gather the necessary tools, including a timing light, socket wrench set, and a screwdriver.
2. Locate the timing mark on the crankshaft pulley. This is usually a small notch or line.
3. Locate the timing mark on the engine block. This is usually a small raised bump.
4. With the engine off, connect the timing light to the battery and to the spark plug wire of the number one cylinder.
5. Point the timing light at the timing marks.
6. Start the engine and let it idle.
7. While the engine is idling, adjust the distributor cap until the timing marks line up.
8. Tighten the distributor cap bolts.
9. Turn the engine off and disconnect the timing light.
Your timing alignment is now set.
