Where are the timing marks on a 2000 Honda civic ex coupe?

Cam Sprockets

1. Place a piece of masking tape on the right and left cam covers.

2. Using white paint or a white grease marker, make a mark on the cam gears as shown.

3. Rotate the crankshaft, using the vibration damper scale and its notch, to TDC of compression for cylinder #1.

4. Align and mark the top surfaces of the cam gear as shown.

Crankshaft

The vibration damper scale is marked in degrees clockwise from 0° to 30°. The notch in the vibration damper is used to align the marks on the scale.

The engine is at TDC of compression for cylinder #1 when the following marks are aligned:

- The #1 piston at TDC

- The cam gears timing marks are aligned with their marks on the cam cover

- The vibration damper scale notch and its 0° mark are aligned with the timing mark on the oil pump (or engine block).
