Tools Needed:
- Phillips screwdriver
- Flathead screwdriver
- Pliers
- New Right-Side View Mirror
Procedure:
1. Prepare the Vehicle: Park the vehicle in a safe and well-lit area. Engage the parking brake and turn off the engine.
2. Locate Mirror Assembly: Stand outside the vehicle on the passenger's side and locate the right-side view mirror assembly attached to the door.
3. Remove Interior Door Panel: Inside the vehicle, remove the interior door panel to access the mirror mounting bolts. This usually involves removing screws and carefully prying the panel off. Some additional steps, like removing the window/door switch console or door handle, might be necessary.
4. Disconnect Electrical Connectors: Once the door panel is removed, locate and disconnect the electrical connector(s) attached to the mirror assembly. You might need to gently pry open a plastic cover to access the connectors.
5. Loosen Mirror Mounting Bolts: Inside the door, locate and loosen the mounting bolts that secure the mirror assembly to the door frame. Some vehicles might have only one bolt, while others have multiple.
6. Remove Old Mirror: While stabilizing the mirror with one hand, use a screwdriver or ratchet to remove the mounting bolts completely and take off the old mirror.
7. Install New Mirror: Align the new mirror assembly with the mounting holes and insert the mounting bolts. Hand-tighten the bolts to secure the mirror.
8. Reconnect Electrical Connectors: Reconnect the electrical connectors that you disconnected earlier. Ensure they are securely plugged in.
9. Test Mirror: Close the door, switch on the ignition, and check the functionality of the new mirror. Adjust the mirror as necessary to your liking.
10. Reattach Interior Door Panel: Reattach the interior door panel by aligning it properly and re-inserting the screws or fasteners you removed earlier.
Note: If the vehicle has an electrically adjustable mirror, you might need to manually unfold or adjust its position after installation. Additionally, some vehicles may require initialization or calibration of the new mirror using a diagnostic tool. Refer to your vehicle's owner's manual for specific instructions.
Safety Precaution: Be careful while handling the glass mirror to prevent any injuries.
