The vehicle speed sensor is located on the top of the transmission, directly behind the exhaust heat sheild. It is a brown connector, with a black (or dark blue) wire, a yellow wire, and a white (or light blue) wire. The wire colors may be slightly different depending on the model year.
To replace the vehicle speed sensor, follow these steps:
1. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Raise the vehicle and support it on jack stands.
3. Remove the exhaust heat shield.
4. Unplug the electrical connector from the vehicle speed sensor.
5. Use a 10mm wrench to loosen the bolt that holds the vehicle speed sensor in place.
6. Remove the vehicle speed sensor from the transmission.
7. Apply a small amount of sealant to the threads of the new vehicle speed sensor.
8. Screw the new vehicle speed sensor into the transmission.
9. Tighten the bolt that holds the vehicle speed sensor in place.
10. Plug the electrical connector back into the vehicle speed sensor.
11. Lower the vehicle and remove the jack stands.
12. Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
