1. Park your car on a level surface, about 10 feet (3 meters) away from a wall.
2. Turn on the headlights.
3. Open the hood of your car.
4. Locate the headlight adjustment screws. On the 1999 Honda Civic DX Coupe, there are two adjustment screws for each headlight. The upper screw adjusts the vertical aim of the headlight, and the lower screw adjusts the horizontal aim.
5. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to turn the adjustment screws. Turn the upper screw clockwise to raise the headlight beam, and counterclockwise to lower it. Turn the lower screw clockwise to move the headlight beam to the right, and counterclockwise to move it to the left.
6. Continue adjusting the headlights until the beams are aimed properly. The horizontal beam should be centered on the wall, and the vertical beam should be about 2 inches (5 cm) below the horizontal beam.
7. Once you have adjusted the headlights, close the hood of your car.
Tips:
- If you have trouble reaching the adjustment screws, you may need to remove the front bumper.
- If you are not comfortable adjusting the headlights yourself, you can take your car to a mechanic to have them adjusted for you.
