- Clogged or Damaged Weatherstripping: The weatherstripping around doors and windows can become worn, cracked, or clogged with dirt, allowing water to enter the cabin of the vehicle.
- Damaged Door Seals: If the rubber door seals are worn out or damaged, they may not properly seal the doors, causing water to leak in during rain.
- Cracked or Damaged Windshield: A cracked or damaged windshield can allow rainwater to leak into the car.
- Clogged or Damaged Cowl Drain: The cowl is the area where the windshield wipers are located. If the drain holes in the cowl become clogged, water can back up and leak into the passenger foot well.
- Faulty A/C Drain Tube: The A/C drain tube is responsible for draining water from the air conditioning system. If the hose is disconnected, damaged, or clogged, water can leak onto the passenger side floorboard.
- Failed Door Check: The PT Cruiser has a door check that keeps the doors from being opened excessively. If the check fails, it may not allow the door to seal properly, causing water to leak into the passenger compartment.
- Broken Seals around Rear Brake Lights or Tail Lights: If the gaskets behind the rear brake lights or tail lights become brittle and leak, water can enter and then leak onto the passenger-side floor.
