What is a DPFE sensor on 2002 Ford Escape?

DPFE sensor stands for Differential Pressure Feedback (DPFE) sensor. It is a small, electronic device mounted on the intake manifold of a 2002 Ford Escape.

Function: The DPFE sensor measures the difference in air pressure between the exhaust manifold and the intake manifold. This information is used by the engine's computer to adjust the air/fuel ratio and ignition timing.

Symptoms of a faulty DPFE sensor:

- Check engine light on

- Engine hesitation or stalling

- Decreased fuel efficiency

- Black smoke from the exhaust pipe

- Rough idling

Replacing the DPFE sensor is relatively easy and inexpensive. It is a good idea to replace the sensor if you experience any of the above symptoms.
