Locking Jaws Adjustment:
Fifth-wheel locking jaws are designed to hold semi-trailers in place during transportation.
To ensure optimum safety, it is crucial to periodically inspect and adjust these locking jaws.
Below is a diagram showing the critical components of a fifth-wheel locking jaw:

Adjustments steps
1. Pull the release handle (1) to open the locking jaws.
2. Check the slack between the jaws. It should not exceed 1 mm (0.039 in.).
3. If necessary, adjust the slack using the adjusting screws (2). Tighten the screws until the slack is eliminated, then back them off slightly until a slight drag is felt.
4. Close the locking jaws, ensure they are fully engaged, then release the release handle.
5. Re-check the slack and ensure it is still within the specified range.
6. Repeat the procedure for all four locking jaws.
Note: Before making any adjustments to the locking jaws, ensure the semi-trailer is disconnected and the parking brake is engaged.
