1. Brake lights. Make sure that your brake lights are working properly. If they're not, the car won't come out of park.
2. Shift lock solenoid. The shift lock solenoid is a small electrical device that releases the gear shifter from the park position. If the solenoid is faulty, the car won't come out of park.
3. Wiring. The wiring between the shift lock solenoid and the transmission control module (TCM) could be damaged, preventing the solenoid from receiving power.
4. TCM. The TCM is the computer that controls the transmission. If the TCM is faulty, it could prevent the car from coming out of park.
If you've checked all of these things and the car still won't come out of park, you should take it to a qualified mechanic for further diagnosis and repair.
Here are some additional tips that may help you get your car out of park:
* Try rocking the car back and forth while holding the brake pedal down. This can sometimes help to disengage the shift lock solenoid.
* Try pressing the brake pedal down hard and then releasing it quickly. This can sometimes also help to disengage the shift lock solenoid.
* If you have a spare key, try using that key to start the car. Sometimes, a different key can bypass the shift lock solenoid.
If none of these tips work, you'll need to take your car to a mechanic for further diagnosis and repair.
