* Place the mower on a flat, level surface.
* Disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug (this is to prevent the engine from starting while you are working).
* Tip the mower on its side so that the carburetor is facing up (this will help to prevent fuel from leaking out).
* Locate the blade bolt (it is usually located on the bottom of the mower deck, near the center).
* Use a wrench to loosen and remove the blade bolt.
* Remove the old blade from the mower deck.
* Inspect the blade for damage and replace it if necessary.
* Position the new blade on the mower deck and align the holes in the blade with the holes in the mower deck.
* Insert the blade bolt and tighten it until it is snug.
* Flip the mower over so that it is standing upright.
* Reconnect the spark plug wire to the spark plug.
