Where do you jack up the front end of a 96 explorer to change tire?

On a 1996 Ford Explorer, the best places to jack up the front end for a tire change are the side frame rails, just inboard of the front tires. Avoid jacking on the pinch welds (the thin metal lip along the bottom of the body) as they can be easily damaged.

Look for a reinforced section of the frame rail near the jacking point; it might be slightly thicker or have a slight indentation. Place a jack stand under the frame rail *after* lifting with the jack to support the vehicle's weight securely before working under it. Never rely solely on a jack.
