What replaced the distributor on a 2001 Jeep Cherokee?

The distributor was replaced by a Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) and a Cam Position Sensor (CMP) in the 2001 Jeep Cherokee (and most modern vehicles). These sensors, along with the computer's control module, handle the ignition timing electronically instead of the mechanical system of the distributor.
