IAT Sensor on a 2006 Ford F-150?

Procedure 1: How to Replace the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor in a Ford F-150

1. Identify the IAT Sensor. The IAT sensor is located in the intake air duct, just before the throttle body. It is a small, black sensor with a single wire connector.

2. Disconnect the IAT Sensor. Use a 7mm socket to loosen the bolt that holds the IAT sensor in place. Then, pull the sensor straight out of the intake air duct.

3. Clean the IAT Sensor. Use a cotton swab and some isopropyl alcohol to clean the IAT sensor. Be sure to clean both the sensor tip and the inside of the intake air duct.

4. Reinstall the IAT Sensor. Insert the IAT sensor back into the intake air duct and tighten the bolt. Be sure not to overtighten the bolt, as this can damage the sensor.

5. Reconnect the IAT Sensor. Plug the IAT sensor wire connector back into the sensor.

6. Test the IAT Sensor. Start the engine and let it idle. Then, use a scan tool to monitor the IAT sensor readings. The readings should be within the manufacturer's specifications.

1. Park your vehicle in a safe location and turn off the engine. Allow the engine to cool down if it has been running.

2. Locate the IAT sensor. The IAT sensor is located on the air intake tube, near the throttle body. It is a small, black sensor with a single wire connector.

3. Disconnect the IAT sensor connector. Press the release tab on the connector and pull it straight up.

4. Unscrew the IAT sensor. Use a 7mm wrench to turn the sensor counterclockwise until it is loose.

5. Remove the IAT sensor. Pull the sensor straight out of the air intake tube.

6. Inspect the IAT sensor. Look for any damage or contamination on the sensor. If the sensor is damaged or contaminated, replace it.

7. Install the new IAT sensor. Insert the new sensor into the air intake tube and turn it clockwise until it is snug.

8. Reconnect the IAT sensor connector. Press the connector down until it clicks into place.

9. Start the engine and test the IAT sensor. The IAT sensor should read within the normal range of temperatures.
