After the demise of the Renegade on the local market, the Compass is now the baby Jeep, but how does the Jeep Compass’ maintenance cost compare to that of the more expensive and specialized Jeeps, such as the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee? And how does it shape up against similar compact crossover rivals? We’ll look to answer those questions in this article, but first, let’s look at the Jeep Compass’ service schedule:

The Jeep Compass maintenance schedule calls for oil changes every 5,000 to 7,500 miles, but consult your service manual for shortened intervals based on severe use.

These two are also the only ones in the comparison with proper off-road versions, so rougher use and more expensive off-road components and servicing needs will also inflate these figures somewhat.

That being said, the Compass will cost you nearly twice as much as a RAV4 to maintain over 10 years, but it’s a little cheaper to maintain than other Jeeps, though not by as much as you’d hope; the Grand Cherokee’s maintenance cost over 10 years is $11,217, and the Wrangler’s 10-year maintenance is $11,664.
RepairPal estimates that a Compass should cost you around $526 to repair per year, compared to $429 for a Toyota RAV4, $407 for a Honda CR-V, and $426 for a Hyundai Tucson. Here are RepairPal’s estimates for some typical repair jobs on a 2025 Compass:
Jeep put in a commendable performance in the J.D. Power 2024 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study for problems per 100 vehicles (PP100) after 3 years, with a score right on the study average. This is how Jeep shapes up against the other brands we compared it to in the first table:

RepairPal gives the Jeep brand a reliability rating of 3.5 out of 5, or 15th out of 32 brands evaluated.

We would pass over the current Jeep Compass. It’s now an old product that’s been on the market for 8 years and is due for a replacement soon. It’s also more expensive to maintain than most of its rivals, and more likely to go wrong as it ages. The far newer Ford Bronco Sport can do the off-road things just as well, with lower costs and better potential reliability.
