How do you change the oil and filter on a Honda CBR600F4i motorcycle?

How to Change the Oil and Filter on a Honda CBR600F4i

1. Gather the necessary materials.

You will need:

- 3.2 quarts of 10W-40 motor oil (or see owner's manual)

- Oil filter wrench

- Funnel

- Oil drain pan

- Clean rag

- New oil filter (Honda part number 15410-MM9-003)

2. Warm up the engine.

Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. This will thin the oil and make it easier to drain.

3. Locate the oil drain plug.

The oil drain plug is located on the bottom of the engine, near the front. It is a 17mm bolt.

4. Place the oil drain pan under the drain plug.

Be sure the pan is large enough to catch all the oil that will drain out (a minimum of 4.0 US quarts).

5. Remove the drain plug.

Use the oil drain wrench to loosen the oil drain plug. Be careful not to drop the bolt into the oil pan.

6. Let the oil drain.

Allow all the oil to drain from the engine. This may take a few minutes.

7. Replace the drain plug.

Once all the oil has drained out, replace the drain plug. Tighten the plug with the oil drain wrench.

8. Locate the oil filter.

The oil filter is located on the front of the engine, near the top. It is a cylindrical-shaped object with a black cap. It should be installed vertically.

9. Remove the oil filter.

Use the oil filter wrench to loosen the oil filter. Be careful not to spill any oil.

10. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket on the new oil filter.

This will help to create a seal and prevent leaks.

11. Screw on the new oil filter.

Hand-tighten the oil filter until it is snug. Do not overtighten the filter.

12. Add new oil to the engine.

Use the funnel to add new oil to the engine. Add the amount of oil per your owner's manual.

13. Check the oil level.

Use the dipstick in the engine to check the oil level once you have added the new filter and oil. When checking the dipstick, you want the oil level to be between the two marks on the dipstick.

14. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.

This will circulate the new oil throughout the engine.

15. Check for leaks.

Look under the motorcycle for any leaks. If you see any leaks, tighten the oil drain plug or oil filter until the leak stops.
