Tools and materials needed:
- New wheel speed sensor
- Socket set
- Wrench
- Pliers
- Safety glasses
1. Park your vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
2. Locate the wheel speed sensor. The wheel speed sensor on the Dodge Ram 2WD 2008 is located on the back side of the wheel hub, near the brake rotor.
3. Remove the wheel. Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel, then jack up the vehicle and remove the lug nuts and wheel.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the wheel speed sensor. Use a wrench or pliers to loosen the bolt holding the connector in place, then pull the connector off of the sensor.
5. Remove the mounting bolts for the wheel speed sensor. Use a socket wrench to loosen the bolts holding the sensor in place, then remove the bolts and take out the sensor.
6. Install the new wheel speed sensor. Insert the new sensor into the mounting holes and start the bolts. Tighten the bolts until they are snug, but do not over-tighten them.
7. Reconnect the electrical connector to the wheel speed sensor. Push the connector onto the sensor until it clicks into place, then tighten the bolt holding the connector in place.
8. Reinstall the wheel and tighten the lug nuts. Use a socket wrench to tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern, tightening them until they are snug.
9. Lower the vehicle. Use the jack to lower the vehicle until it is back on the ground, then remove the jack and chock the wheels.
