1. Remove the Tires and Wheels:
- Loosen the lug nuts while the wheels are still on the ground to break their torque.
- Jack up the truck and secure it using jack stands.
- Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheels.
2. Remove the Brake Caliper Bracket:
- Unbolt the brake caliper bracket from the steering knuckle. This bracket holds the brake caliper in place.
3. Remove the Brake Caliper:
- Slide out the brake caliper. If it doesn't come off easily, you may need to press the brake piston back using a C-clamp or a special caliper tool. Be careful not to spill any brake fluid if the reservoir is full.
4. Remove the Old Rotor:
- Remove the two screws holding the rotor to the hub.
- Slide off the old rotor.
5. Clean the Hub:
- Clean the hub surface where the rotor sits using a wire brush.
6. Install the New Rotor:
- Slide the new rotor onto the hub.
- Secure the rotor using the two screws.
7. Reinstall the Brake Caliper:
- Slide the brake caliper back into place and secure it with the caliper bracket bolts.
8. Install New Brake Pads:
- If you have not already replaced the brake pads, now is the time to do so. Slide the new brake pads into the caliper and make sure they fit properly.
9. Reinstall the Wheels:
- Place the wheels back onto the hubs and tighten the lug nuts hand-tight.
- Lower the truck and fully tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern.
10. Bleed the Brakes:
- If you spilled brake fluid during the process or are replacing brake lines, you will need to bleed the brakes to remove any air in the brake lines.
