1. Locate the hood release cable. On the 1997 Honda Accord, the hood release cable is located on the driver's side of the engine bay, near the firewall. It is a black plastic cable with a yellow handle.

2. Pull the hood release cable. Once you have located the hood release cable, pull it towards you. This will release the hood latch and allow you to open the hood.
