Instructions:
1. Park your car in a safe location and turn off the engine. Allow the car to cool down if it has been running.
2. Open the driver's door and locate the plastic cover on the inside of the door. This cover is usually located near the window controls. Use a flat head screwdriver to pry the cover off.
3. Locate the three bolts that secure the side mirror to the car door. Use a socket wrench to loosen and remove the bolts.
4. Carefully pull the side mirror assembly away from the car door. Be careful not to damage the wiring that connects the mirror to the car's electrical system.
5. If you are only replacing the mirror glass, follow these steps:
- Use a flat head screwdriver to pry the old mirror glass out of the mirror assembly.
- Apply a thin layer of silicone sealant around the edges of the new mirror glass.
- Press the new mirror glass into the mirror assembly.
- Allow the silicone sealant to dry for at least 24 hours before driving the car.
6. If you are replacing the entire side mirror assembly, follow these steps:
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the back of the mirror.
- Use a wire cutter to cut the wires connecting the mirror to the car's electrical system.
- Strip the ends of the wires and connect them to the corresponding wires on the new side mirror assembly.
- Use electrical tape to insulate the connections.
- Position the new side mirror assembly on the car door and secure it with the three bolts that you removed earlier.
- Connect the electrical connector to the back of the mirror.
7. Close the plastic cover on the inside of the door.
8. Test the new powered side mirror to make sure that it is working properly.
