1. Locate the ALDL Connector:
- Open the driver's side door and remove the kick panel under the dashboard.
- Locate the 16-pin ALDL (Assembly Line Diagnostic Link) connector. It's usually gray and has a black cap on the end.
2. Prepare a Jumper Wire:
- Get a piece of wire about 6-8 inches long and strip both ends to expose the metal.
- Connect one end of the wire to the ground terminal (usually black) of the ALDL connector.
3. Connect Test Light to Battery:
- Connect the other end of the wire to the negative terminal of the car battery.
- Attach a test light to the positive terminal of the battery and leave the other end of the test light disconnected.
4. Turn the Key:
- With the wire still connected, insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position.
- Leave the key in this position and keep the test light attached.
5. Check Test Light:
- If the test light lights up, it indicates that the immobilizer system is successfully bypassed.
- This means that the security system won't prevent the engine from starting.
6. Start the Engine:
- Leave the jumper wire and the test light connected and attempt to start the car.
- If it starts, the security system has been successfully bypassed.
Remember, bypassing the factory security system may compromise your vehicle's security. If you're uncomfortable performing this procedure, it's best to consult with a professional auto locksmith or mechanic for assistance.
