How to replace a 2001 Toyota Sequoia radio antenna motor?

Replacing the radio antenna motor on a 2001 Toyota Sequoia involves the following steps:

1. Removal of the interior rear trim panel:

- Pull the rear seatbelt plastic retainer clips with your fingers.

- There are two Philips screws behind the plastic retainer clips, remove them.

- Pry up the retainer clip with a flathead screwdriver.

- Remove the small cover near the passenger side window to access the 10mm bolt.

- Remove the 10mm bolt you accessed behind the cover.

- Using the flathead screwdriver, pull up the bottom trim to release it.

- Slide the bottom portion of the trim piece towards the front of the vehicle to release it from the top retaining clips.

- Slide the trim piece down to remove it completely.

2. Radio antenna motor removal:

- Reach into the opening left by the trim panel and locate the white nylon connector. Disconnect the connector by pressing the tab.

- Locate the two mounting bolts of the antenna motor, one above and the other below the motor unit. Use a ratchet with a 10mm socket to loosen the bolts.

- Remove the bolts and detach the antenna motor from its mounting bracket.

3. New radio antenna motor installation:

- Align the new antenna motor to the mounting bracket.

- Secure the new antenna motor to the bracket with the mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts using a ratchet with a 10mm socket.

- Connect the white nylon connector by aligning it with the slot on the motor and pushing it in until it clicks in place.

4. Reinstall the interior rear trim panel.

- Position the trim panel by sliding it into the top retainer clips first.

- Carefully slide the panel into place, making sure it engages the retainer clips properly.

- Reinstall the 10mm bolt at the top.

- Reattach the seat belt retainer plastic clip.

5. Test the newly replaced antenna motor:

- Turn the radio ON.

- Observe if the antenna raises smoothly and retracts properly.

- Confirm the radio stations can be received clearly without any reception issues.
