How do you remove the spoiler on a 1997 Mitsubishi eclipse?

To remove the spoiler on a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse, follow these steps:

Tools and Materials Needed:

- Phillips-head screwdriver

- Flat-head screwdriver

- Pliers

- Socket wrench set

- Masking tape

- Sandpaper

- Primer (optional)

- Spray paint (optional)

- Rags

- Safety goggles

Instructions:

1. Park the car in a safe and level area. Engage the parking brake and turn off the engine.

2. Use the Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screws holding the spoiler in place. There will typically be two screws on each side of the spoiler, located near the top edge. Remove these screws and set them aside in a safe place.

3. Slide the flat-head screwdriver underneath the edge of the spoiler. You may have to pry gently to release the spoiler from its mounting points. Be careful not to damage the paint or the body of the car.

4. Continue to pry the spoiler up and off of the car. Work your way around the perimeter of the spoiler until it is completely removed.

5. Use the pliers to remove any remaining clips or fasteners holding the spoiler in place. Check the underside of the spoiler and the mounting points on the car for any remaining hardware that needs to be removed.

6. Clean the mounting surface on the car. Use a damp rag to wipe away any dirt, debris, or adhesive residue left from the spoiler. Allow the surface to dry completely before continuing.

7. Sandpaper the mounting surface. This is only necessary if the surface is uneven or has any rust spots. Use fine-grit sandpaper to smooth out any imperfections.

8. Apply primer to the mounting surface (optional). This will help the spray paint to adhere better to the surface. Allow the primer to dry completely according to the manufacturer's instructions.

9. Spray paint the mounting surface (optional). This is only necessary if you want to change the color of the mounting surface. Use masking tape to protect any areas that you don't want to be painted. Apply the spray paint in thin coats, allowing each coat to dry completely before applying the next.

10. Reinstall the spoiler. Align the spoiler with the mounting points on the car and insert the screws. Tighten the screws until they are snug.

11. Admire your work! You have successfully removed the spoiler from your 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse.
