1. Gather your tools and materials.
- New lug nuts
- Socket wrench
- Flathead screwdriver
- Hammer
2. Prepare your car
Jack up your car and support it with jack stands.
Remove the lug nuts and washer.
3. Remove the wheel
Use the flathead screwdriver to pry off the hub cap.
Use a lug wrench to loosen and remove the lug nuts.
Remove the wheel from the car.
4. Remove the brake drum.
Pull on the brake drum to remove it.
Use penetrating oil to help remove it if it is stuck.
5. Remove the wheel stud.
Use a socket wrench to loosen and remove the wheel studs.
If the studs are rusted or damaged, you may need to use a stud remover.
6. Install new studs
Install the new studs by screwing them into the wheel hub.
Tighten with a lug wrench to 75-100 ft/lbs.
7. Replace the brake drum.
Press the brake drum onto the wheel studs.
Ensure it is seated properly.
8. Put the wheel back on.
Place the wheel on the car.
Install the lug nuts and tighten them with a socket wrench.
9. Replace the hub cap.
Press the hub cap onto the wheel.
Ensure it is seated properly.
10. Lower your car.
Remove the jack stands and carefully lower your car.
Your wheel studs are now changed.
