How do you change the alternater on a 2002 Kia Sedona?

Tools Needed:

- 10mm socket

- 12mm socket

- 14mm socket

- Ratchet

- Extension

- Flat head screwdriver

- Pliers

- New alternator

Instructions:

1. Remove the negative battery cable.

This will prevent any electrical shock while you are working on the alternator.

2. Jack up the car and support it on jack stands.

This will give you enough room to work under the car.

3. Locate the alternator.

The alternator is located on the front of the engine, near the top. It is a cylindrical-shaped object with a belt running around it.

4. Remove the belt tensioner.

The belt tensioner is a small, spring-loaded device that helps keep the belt tight. To remove it, use a flat-head screwdriver to pry the tensioner back.

5. Remove the serpentine belt.

Once the tensioner is released, you can remove the serpentine belt. To do this, simply grab the belt with your hands and pull it off the pulleys.

6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the alternator.

The electrical connector is located on the back of the alternator. To disconnect it, simply press the release tab and pull the connector straight out.

7. Remove the mounting bolts.

There are two bolts that hold the alternator in place. To remove them, use a 14mm socket and ratchet.

8. Remove the alternator.

Once the mounting bolts are removed, you can remove the alternator from the car. To do this, simply lift it straight up.

9. Install the new alternator.

To install the new alternator, simply reverse the steps that you took to remove the old one.

10. Reconnect the electrical connector.

Reconnect the electrical connector to the back of the alternator.

11. Install the mounting bolts.

Install the two mounting bolts that hold the alternator in place.

12. Install the serpentine belt.

Install the serpentine belt around the pulleys.

13. Install the belt tensioner.

Install the belt tensioner and pry it back to tighten the belt.

14. Lower the car.

Lower the car from the jack stands.

15. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

Reconnect the negative battery cable to the battery.
