How to Replace the AC Water Pump Alternator Belts on a 1991 Mercury Capri

Tools and Materials Needed:

- 10mm socket

- 13mm socket

- Ratchet

- Flathead screwdriver

- New AC water pump alternator belts

Instructions:

1. Loosen the lug nuts on the passenger side front wheel. Don't remove the lug nuts completely.

2. Raise the vehicle using a floor jack and secure it in place using a jack stand.

3. Remove the lug nuts and then the wheel.

4. Locate the AC water pump alternator belts behind the passenger-side front wheel.

5. Use a 10mm socket and a ratchet to loosen the bolts holding the belts in place.

6. Remove the old belts and discard them.

7. Place the new belts around the pulleys and turn the crankshaft pulley clockwise to tension the belts.

8. Tighten the bolts holding the belts in place with a 10mm socket and a ratchet.

9. Reinstall the wheel and lower the vehicle.

10. Start the engine and check that the belts are properly aligned and tensioned.

11. If necessary, adjust the tension of the belts by loosening the bolts slightly and turning the crankshaft pulley clockwise.
