How do you remove an install cv joint housing?

To remove an installed CV joint housing:

Gather your tools and materials. You will need:

A socket set

A ratchet

A pry bar

A hammer

A new CV joint housing

Step 1: Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel that is closest to the CV joint housing.

Step 2: Jack up the car and support it on jack stands.

Step 3: Remove the wheel.

Step 4: Remove the cotter pin and castle nut from the axle shaft.

Step 5: Use a pry bar to pry the axle shaft out of the CV joint housing.

Step 6: Remove the bolts that hold the CV joint housing to the transmission.

Step 7: Remove the CV joint housing from the transmission.

Step 8: Install the new CV joint housing in reverse order.

Step 9: Torque the bolts that hold the CV joint housing to the transmission to the specifications in your vehicle's repair manual.

Step 10: Install the castle nut and cotter pin on the axle shaft.

Step 11: Install the wheel and lug nuts.

Step 12: Lower the car from the jack stands.
