R-22 (Chlorodifluoromethane)
* It was commonly used in older refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
* Contains hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC), which contributes to ozone depletion.
* Not commonly used in newer systems due to environmental concerns.
R-134 (Tetrafluoroethane)
* Introduced as a more environmentally friendly replacement for R-22.
* Does not contain chlorine and has a lower ozone depletion potential (ODP).
* Widely used in newer refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
While R-134 has been accepted as a more environmentally friendly alternative to R-22, there are ongoing efforts to find even more sustainable refrigerants with lower global warming potential (GWP).
