1. Gather Tools and Parts:
- Replacement Ignition Switch
- Flat-head screwdriver
- Phillips-head screwdriver
- Socket wrench set
- Torx screwdriver (if needed for any screws)
2. Disconnect the Battery:
- Open the hood of your vehicle.
- Locate the negative (-) battery terminal.
- Loosen the nut holding the negative battery cable and remove the cable from the terminal.
- This will disconnect the power supply to the ignition switch and prevent any electrical accidents during the replacement process.
3. Remove the Ignition Switch Trim Cover:
- Locate the ignition switch on the steering column.
- Use a flat-head screwdriver or pry tool to remove the trim cover around the ignition switch.
- This will expose the ignition switch and its wiring.
4. Remove the Ignition Switch Housing:
- Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screws securing the ignition switch housing to the steering column.
- Carefully remove the ignition switch housing from the column.

6. Remove the Ignition Lock Cylinder:
- Insert your car key into the ignition switch and turn it to the "ON" position.
- Use a small flat-head screwdriver to depress the release button located on the ignition lock cylinder.
- While depressing the release button, turn the key clockwise and pull the ignition lock cylinder out of the switch.
7. Install the New Ignition Switch:
- Place the new ignition switch into the steering column.
- Align the switch with the mounting holes and secure it using the screws you removed earlier.
8. Reconnect Electrical Connectors:
- Reconnect the electrical connectors that you disconnected earlier, paying careful attention to the labels to ensure proper reconnection.
9. Reinstall the Ignition Switch Housing:
- Carefully position the ignition switch housing and attach it to the steering column using the screws you removed previously.
10. Reinstall the Ignition Switch Trim Cover:
- Replace the ignition switch trim cover that you removed earlier.
11. Reconnect the Battery:
- Reconnect the negative (-) battery cable to the negative terminal of the battery and tighten the nut.
12. Test the Ignition Switch:
- Turn your car key in the ignition switch and check if it starts properly.
13. Test the Steering Wheel Lock:
- Turn the steering wheel to the left and right to make sure it locks and unlocks properly when the key is removed and inserted.
