Preparation:
1. Clean the area thoroughly with acetone or denatured alcohol to remove dirt and grease.
2. Let the surface dry completely.
3. Sand the cracked area with 80-grit sandpaper to roughen the surface and create a better bond for the repair.
4. Wipe the sanded area clean with a damp cloth.
Repair Process:
1. Mix the fiberglass resin and hardener according to the manufacturer's instructions.
2. Cut a piece of fiberglass mesh large enough to cover the crack with at least 1 inch of overlap on all sides.
3. Apply a thin layer of resin to the cracked area using a paintbrush or small roller.
4. Immediately place the fiberglass mesh over the crack, ensuring it is firmly embedded in the resin.
5. Apply another layer of resin over the mesh, saturating it thoroughly.
6. Allow the resin to cure for the recommended time as per the manufacturer's instructions.
Finishing:
1. Once the resin has cured completely, sand the repaired area with 220-grit sandpaper to smooth out any rough edges.
2. Wipe the surface clean.
3. Apply a sealant or paint over the repaired area to protect it from moisture and further damage.
