How do you Valve adjustment on a Porsche 944?

To perform valve adjustment on a Porsche 944, you will need the following tools:

* 13 mm socket

* 19 mm socket

* Torque wrench

* Feeler gauge

* Pliers

* Screwdriver

1. Prepare the engine by allowing it to cool down completely. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Then remove the air filter housing and the valve covers.

2. Locate the valve clearance adjustment screws on the cylinder heads. There are two screws on each cylinder head, one for the intake valve and one for the exhaust valve.

3. Use the 13 mm socket to loosen the locknuts on the valve clearance adjustment screws. Do not remove the locknuts completely.

4. Use the feeler gauge to measure the valve clearance between the valve stem and the rocker arm. The valve clearance should be 0.004 inches (0.10 mm) for both the intake and exhaust valves.

5. If the valve clearance is not within specifications, use the 19 mm socket to turn the valve clearance adjustment screw to adjust the valve clearance. Turn the screw clockwise to decrease the valve clearance and counterclockwise to increase the valve clearance.

6. Once the valve clearance is within specifications, tighten the locknuts on the valve clearance adjustment screws.

7. Repeat steps 3-6 for the remaining valves.

8. Replace the valve covers and the air filter housing.

9. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.

10. Start the engine and check for proper operation.
