1. Park your car on a level surface and turn off the engine.
2. Allow the engine to cool down for at least 15 minutes.
3. Open the hood of your car.
4. Locate the oil filter housing on the front of the engine. It is a cylindrical-shaped housing with a black cap.
5. Remove the oil filter cap by turning it counterclockwise.
6. Remove the old oil filter from the housing.
7. Apply a thin coat of new engine oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
8. Screw the new oil filter into the housing until it is snug.
9. Replace the oil filter cap and tighten it securely.
