1. Open the rear hatch of the 4Runner.
2. Locate the two screws that hold the tail light assembly in place. They are located on the inside of the hatch, near the top of the light assembly.
3. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, remove the two screws. Be careful not to drop them.
4. Once the screws are removed, gently pull the light assembly towards you. It should come out easily.
5. Unplug the electrical connector from the back of the tail light assembly.
6. To remove the individual light bulbs, turn them counterclockwise and pull them straight out.
7. Replace the bulbs with new ones, if necessary.
8. Reinstall the tail light assembly by inserting it into the hole in the hatch and screwing in the two screws.
9. Reconnect the electrical connector.
10. Test the lights to make sure they are working properly.
