Park your vehicle in a safe location. Engage the parking brake and chock the wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling.
Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels. Do not remove the lug nuts completely at this point.
Lift the front of the vehicle off the ground with a jack. Place the jack under the front crossmember of the vehicle. Raise the vehicle just high enough so that the front wheels are off the ground.
Remove the lug nuts and take off the front wheels.
Locate the brake calipers on the front of the vehicle. The brake calipers are located on the back of the wheel hub and are held in place by two bolts.
Remove the two bolts that hold the brake caliper in place. Use a wrench to loosen the bolts and then remove them by hand.
Once the caliper is removed, the brake pads will be visible. The brake pads are held in place by a metal clip. Remove the clip and set it aside.
Slide the old brake pads out of the caliper. Push the brake piston back into the caliper to expose the old brake pads.
Insert the new brake pads into the caliper. Carefully slide the new brake pads into the caliper, making sure that they are seated properly.
Reinstall the metal clip that holds the brake pads in place.
Reinstall the brake caliper and tighten the two bolts. Hand-tighten the bolts first, then use a wrench to tighten them securely.
Reinstall the front wheels and lug nuts. Replace the lug nuts and tighten them securely.
Lower the vehicle to the ground with the jack. Remove the jack from under the vehicle.
Press the brake pedal down several times to seat the new brake pads. This will help to ensure that the brakes work properly.
Check the brake fluid level and add fluid if necessary. The brake fluid reservoir is located under the hood of the vehicle, near the master cylinder.
Test the brakes by driving the vehicle at a low speed and checking for any abnormal noises or vibrations.
