- Allen wrench set
- Phillips-head screwdriver
- Loctite or similar thread locker
- A friend to help you hold the bars in place
Step 1: Loosen Allen Bolts
Using the correct size Allen wrench, remove the bolts on both triple trees that hold the bars in place.
Step 2: Rotate Handlebars
Rotate the handlebars gently forward or back until the bars are at the desired position.
Step 3: Tighten Bolts
Have a friend help hold the bars in the new position while you tighten the bolts.
Step 4: Tighten Set Screw
After tightening the bolts, rotate the bars slightly. You will feel a detent. When the bars are slightly rotated to one side of this point, locate and tighten the set screw on top of the triple tree to prevent the handlebars from rotating further.
Step 5: Apply Loctite (optional)
Although your handlebars are now fixed in the new position, you may want to add some Loctite to the bolts to prevent them from becoming loose due to vibration.
Step 6: Test Ride
Take a short ride to ensure that the new handlebar position is comfortable before setting off on a longer ride.
