1. Park your lawnmower on a flat, level surface and engage the parking brake. Turn the engine off and allow it to cool down.
2. Disconnect the spark plug wire(s) to prevent the engine from accidentally starting while you're working.
3. Open the hood of the mower.
4. Locate the mower deck. It's the housing underneath the mower that contains the mower blades.
5. Find the idler pulley arm at back left side of the mower.
6. Using the adjustment rod remove pressure off the idler pulley.
7. Route the new belt around the idler pulley, around the spindle pulley and around the engine pulley.
8. Pull the idler pulley arm back and put pressure on the belt routing it completely around the pulleys.
9. Release the idler pulley arm to engage the belt into the correct position.
10. Close the hood of the lawn mower and reconnect the spark plug wire(s).
11. Start the lawn mower and check the operation of the mower deck. Make sure the mower deck raises and lowers properly and the blades engage the belt properly when moving lever to engaged.
