How do you clean a carburetor on 1989 suzuki lt160 ATV?

1. Remove the air filter. Loosen the wingnut that secures the air filter cover and lift the cover off. Remove the air filter from the housing and inspect it for damage or dirt. If the air filter is dirty, clean it with compressed air or replace it.

2. Remove the carburetor. Loosen the hose clamps that secure the fuel lines to the carburetor and remove the fuel lines. Remove the throttle cable from the carburetor. Remove the two bolts that secure the carburetor to the intake manifold and lift the carburetor off the manifold.

3. Dismantle the carburetor. Remove the float bowl, float, and needle valve. Remove the main jet, pilot jet, and air screw.

4. Clean the carburetor components. Soak the carburetor components in carburetor cleaner for at least 15 minutes. Use a small brush to remove any dirt or debris from the components. Rinse the components with clean water and dry them with compressed air.

5. Reassemble the carburetor. Reinstall the float, needle valve, main jet, pilot jet, and air screw. Install the float bowl and tighten the drain screw.

6. Reinstall the carburetor. Place the carburetor on the intake manifold and install the two bolts that secure it in place. Tighten the hose clamps that secure the fuel lines to the carburetor. Reconnect the throttle cable.

7. Test the carburetor. Start the engine and let it warm up. Check for any fuel leaks. If there are no leaks, rev the engine and make sure that it responds properly. Adjust the idle speed as needed.
