How do I clean the carburetor of a 1983 Suzuki 125 ATV?

1. Gather the tools and materials you need.

- Carburetor cleaner/decarbonizer

- Assorted screwdrivers and wrenches

- Replacement parts (if needed)

- Container for fuel

- Safety goggles

- Nitrile gloves

2. Prepare the ATV.

- Remove the seat.

- Disconnect the fuel line.

- Drain the float bowl and fuel line into the container.

- Remove the air filter cover and air filter.

3. Remove the carburetor.

- Locate the carburetor on the left side of the ATV.

- Remove the throttle cable from the carburetor.

- Disconnect the choke cable from the carburetor.

- Remove the bolts holding the carburetor in place.

- Gently lift the carburetor off the ATV.

4. Disassemble the carburetor.

- Place the carburetor on a clean surface.

- Remove the float bowl from the carburetor.

- Remove the jets and needles from the carburetor.

5. Clean the carburetor.

- Spray the carburetor with carburetor cleaner/decarbonizer.

- Allow the cleaner to sit for the time specified on the product label.

- Use a small brush to remove any built-up dirt or grime.

- Flush the carburetor with clean water.

- Blow the carburetor dry with compressed air.

6. Reassemble the carburetor.

- Install the jets and needles into the carburetor.

- Reattach the float bowl to the carburetor.

- Install the carburetor bolts and tighten them securely.

7. Reconnect the fuel line to the carburetor.

- Reconnect the choke and accelerate cables. Replace the fuel line and remove the float bowl. Replace air filter if dirty.

8. Start the ATV and test it.

- The ATV should start and run smoothly.

- If the ATV does not start, check the fuel flow, spark plug, and air filter.
