1. Park your motorcycle and allow the engine to cool down.
2. Place a suitable pan or fluid-collection container under the motorcycle below the oil drain plug to catch the used oil.
3. Locate the drain plug on the bottom of the oil pan, usually on the right side of the engine block or oil tank. On a 2006 Road King, it's typically a 17mm hex-head plug.
4. Position a box-end or combination wrench of appropriate size onto the drain plug.
5. Turn the drain plug counterclockwise (left-turn) to loosen and remove it. Be cautious, as the used oil may be hot and can spill out.
6. Allow the old oil to completely drain into the container you placed beneath the motorcycle. This process can take a few minutes, depending on the oil's viscosity and temperature.
7. Once the old oil has drained, place the drain plug back into its hole and tighten it securely. It is recommended to replace a crush washer on the drain plug each time you change the oil.
