Step 2: Locate the v-belt idler arm. This arm is located on the right side of the mower deck, near the engine.
Step 3: Use a wrench to loosen the idler arm bolt. This bolt holds the idler arm in place.
Step 4: Once the bolt is loose, you can move the idler arm up or down to release tension on the v-belt.
Step 5: Remove the old v-belt from the mower. To do this, simply lift the belt off of the pulleys.
Step 6: Install the new v-belt. To do this, place the new belt over the pulleys and then move the idler arm down to tension the belt.
Step 7: Tighten the idler arm bolt to hold the idler arm in place.
Step 8: Start the mower and test the new v-belt. The belt should run smoothly and without slipping.
Here are some additional tips for replacing the v-belt on an MTD riding mower:
* Make sure you have the correct replacement belt for your mower model.
* Be careful not to drop the bolt when you are removing the idler arm.
* If the new belt is too tight, it can put unnecessary strain on the engine and cause damage.
* If the new belt is too loose, it can slip off of the pulleys and cause the mower to stall.
