How to replace the clutch pedal shaft on a 1967 volkswagen beetle?

Tools and Materials Needed:

- Jack and jack stands

- Creeper

- Socket set

- Hex key set

- Pry bar

- New clutch pedal shaft

Instructions:

1. Raise the front of the car with a jack and secure it on jack stands.

2. Crawl under the car and locate the clutch pedal shaft assembly. It is a long, round metal shaft that runs from the clutch pedal to the transmission.

3. Disconnect the clutch cable from the clutch pedal shaft by pulling up on the cable end and sliding it off of the shaft.

4. Unbolt the clutch pedal shaft from the firewall using a socket set. There are two bolts that hold the shaft in place.

5. Remove the accelerator pedal assembly by unbolting it from the firewall. This will provide you with more room to work.

6. Use a pry bar to pry the clutch pedal shaft out of the firewall. Be careful not to damage the firewall or the clutch pedal shaft.

7. Install the new clutch pedal shaft by inserting it into the firewall and reinstalling the two bolts.

8. Reattach the clutch cable to the clutch pedal shaft.

9. Reinstall the accelerator pedal assembly.

10. Lower the car off of the jack stands.

Test the Clutch Pedal:

1. Get in the car and press down on the clutch pedal. The pedal should move smoothly and without any binding.

2. Start the car and shift into gear. The car should shift smoothly and without any grinding or slipping.

Congratulations. You have successfully replaced the clutch pedal shaft on your 1967 Volkswagen Beetle.
